GRIFFITHS
Big enough to cope, small enough to care.
TRUSTED FOR OVER 75 YEARS
The name "Griffiths" is synonymous around Suckley in Worcestershire; the name has been around for generations.
In fact, there has been the Griffiths name written on the side of lorries since 1929!
W.J Griffiths formed a partnership with his brother in law, Jack Ballard in that very year. They had one lorry and began transporting fertilizer and coal around the country.
It was in the early 1930's when they started to move livestock and were moving cattle and sheep to and from the market. At this time, they only had one second hand Ford Model T, so in 1932, it was time to purchase their first new lorry!
This was how the business ran for the following years, and it was in 1937 that W.J Griffiths bought out his brother in law Jack and obtained his first operator's license in the name operating as a sole trader.
Hop gorwing and picking is big business around here! So in 1953, Griffiths started transporting hop picking machines. They had now expanded and had four lorries on the fleet.
The business continued to grow, with more and more lorries added to the fleet. To this day, the business has always been kept in the family.
Tony has been running the business since 1984. Initially with his two brothers who retired in 2008. The business has, and continues to, grow from strength to strength.
